Post-Card Art

***
During College I took a great
Mix-Media class, along with my darling
friends Joy and Toni.  We use to make Art
out of post-cards and send them in the mail and like a lot of
things I start it fizzled out and we haven't picked it back up in a long time.
Toni lives in New Orleans, Joy lives in Brevard NC and I'm in NY.
So over Christmas we were able to get together and have
a wonderful visit and talk about great memories,
All three of us Vowed to start sending each other
Art in the mail again. Ive put a lot of friendships
on the back burning way to often, they are so important.
and just like any other relationship they take effort and time.
I love my girls, I'm excited about going to the mailbox again.
Joy already beat me! i received my first one of the year this week.

***
The next time I'm in the city I'm checking this fabulous
bar out called Old King Cole in the St. Regis.
This is a place where Marilin Monroe and Salvidor
Dali have been seen drinking the Red Snapper
Bloody Mary where it was supposedly invented.

***
After you've run the gauntlet of the St. Regis lobby, take refuge in the dark, lavish, woody warmth of The Bar With That Famous Mural (Maxfield Parrish actually painted "Old King Cole" for another hotel bar, but we won't quibble).
Mixological lore also has it that the so-called
"Red Snapper" came over from Harry's New York Bar in Paris and eventually morphed into the Bloody Mary, King Cole's signature cocktail.
Beyond these claims to fame, this is the place for making good impressions and stimulating conversation, and even if you're capable of neither, be heartened that the chestnut lighting will flatter you, the beer nuts are the best you'll ever have, and your top-shelf liquor cocktail will be stiff. The scene can be subdued and tinkling or downright hectic. If you're lucky enough to secure a table at the banquette, settle in and sip slowly as the Old Guard and the Well-Maintained parade
 by.

Auld Lang Syne

***
HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO EVERYONE
***
***

The words 'Auld Lang Syne' literally translates from old Scottish dialect meaning 'Old Long Ago' and is about love and friendship in times past. The lyrics in the song Auld Lang Syne referring to 'We'll take a Cup of Kindness yet' relate to a drink shared by men and women to symbolise friendship.

***

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne
.
